grad school, politics, knitting and other meanderings. And not enough time for any of it.

i've reached cruising speed

Finally I have reached that point where nothing can stop me from finishing this draft. It consumes me- I thought about it while I slept and in the shower and I just want to sit down and plow through it. Problems in it and how to fix them are clearer to me now than before. It sure has its flaws, but I can look over those now in the interest of finishing this. I can all of a sudden tackle all those once stressful advisor comments like they never should have stressed me out. Its very much like what Reba describes as "high speed efficiency" and despite all my hemming, hawing, complaining and agonizing, I always reach this place at some (usually later than I think) point. If I ever stopped reaching this "high speed efficiency" I suppose I would be all washed up as a grad student/academic.
