grad school, politics, knitting and other meanderings. And not enough time for any of it.

more about my thesis & some about knitting

I realize my blog title implies that it will be about knitting- well kind of. It is more about all the things that keep me from knitting (thesis, work etc...) and sometimes it is about knitting keeping me from other things I need to do (thesis, work etc...) Since I sent off my draft, I have been knitting a lot. I finished the entire back of my peace fleece cardigan while traveling, and now I am working on the 2 front panels. Its coming out very nice- the yarn is beautiful and so much fun to knit with. I will definitely use peace fleece yarn again. I am patiently waiting for comments on that thesis draft- it is like exposing your soul for scrutiny or something like that- waiting for it to come back ripped apart so I can agonize about putting it together again. I had a dream last night that I was explaining to my advisor that I thought my thesis was (a) crap and (b) incredibly obvious sociology. And she (in my dream) said "no it's brilliant". Yeah right. I was talking to Virginia at lunch the other day about the stages of a masters thesis- the "I think this is crap" stage and the "I think this is stupidly obvious" stage. I think I will be going back and forth between them for the rest of the summer. At least I have the work done (most of it) so I keep trying to remind myself that. Jo and I are going to go out to breakfast- she wanted to "extend" her b-day into this morning. Fine with me!
