knit me more time...
Saturday, October 16, 2004

I have been looking in various stores over the past couple months for the yellow ribbon "support our troops" I see on cars/SUVs all over Madison. I even ventured in to the 2 christian stores nearby, and I was disappointed to see didn't have them. I had a really awkward conversation with a woman in the christian bookstore near East Towne mall about how I was surprised they didn't have "support the troops" stickers although they did have 3 different styles of Bush/Cheney '04 stickers. Well, today we went to Michaels tocheck out some inexpensive "fun-fur" type yarn for holiday presents. We got to the check out, and sure enough they had hundreds of the magnet ribbons for $1.99 each. So, I bought one, and I wrote "Bring them home" on it and stuck it on the back of my car. I am very excited about this! I fear, though (having lost much faith in humanity over the course of this election) that the notion of "supporting our troops" while also saying that "Bush Lies" and "we are making enemies faster than we can kill then" will be so disjointed and alien for people that I think the magnet ribbon will probably be stolen. Maybe not. But, if it happens I know where to buy a new one. So, I encourage everyone out there to put one on their car- with their Kerry/Edwards and anti-Bush stickers. It pisses me off to no end that those supporting Bush have been brainwashed into thinking that you can't be against the war, or the president and also not want the troops to die for dubya's mistakes.
