random creepy things (1)

* I learned today on a special on pbs about evangelical christians that one of the reasons why they generally worry less about the environment is because they truly believe that Jesus will come within their lifetimes. (you know, trumpets, heaven splitting open etc...) and therefore the "saving our earth for future generations" logic doesn't work. (now, I am not saying that this is why Bush's environmental record sucks- that can be attributed to his lack of support for regulations that might cost corporations money) * In order to be able to say you have captured 75% of known Al Qeada leaders you must know the total number you are going after. And you don't, Condi/Bush/Arnold/Guiliani. * I also found out from an especially inane report on cnn that Nader voters who have been polled are actually saying they would vote for Bush instead of Kerry if Nader was off the ballet. They are really trying to give themselves, and take away from democrats any explanation for loosing. *This one is a particular pet peeve of mine. INSURGENTS are not TERRORISTS according to my dictionary "Insurgent" means: 1. somebody who rebels against authority or leadership, especially somebody belonging to a group involved in an uprising against the government or ruler of a country 2. a member of a political party who rebels against the party leaders or policies "Terrorist" means: somebody who uses violence or the threat of violence, especially bombing, kidnapping, and assassination, to intimidate, often for political purposes So saying that you have "terrorist insurgents" in prison in Iraq (which I have heard said millions of times and used to justify the war in Iraq) is therefore a ridiculous oxymoron. Moron. Insurgents are Iraqis fighting against the occupying power, the US. Terrorists blow up trains/planes/etc... in other places for political means. Like those guys from Saudi Arabia on 9/11. Jeezem freakin' crow.
